Project Manager/Collections Curator
Hauer has spent the last 5 years working with the Department of Anthropology's archaeological and ethnographic collections, initiating a review of UM's NAGPRA compliance and upgrading the collection's archival situation to be in line with federal standards. She works closely with many of the Department'sgraduate students to facilitate their research and give them opportunities for hands-on research and experience. She also launched the Department's largest internship program in 2009. Currently, over 30 students have worked with her to learn curatorial, laboratory, and research skills in a hands-on interactive environment. During the summer 2013 field season she taught Anthropological Curation and Laboratory Practicum and co-instructed the Missoula Underground Archaeological Field School and the Landscape Archaeology Field School with Dr.Dixon. In her spare time Hauer works with local elementary and high schools to teach anthropology and Montana American Indian history and law. Hauer also sits on the Board of Directors for the Missoula Indian Center.
