Medical anthropology, the study of human health, the experience of illness, and the organization of health care across different cultures and societies, is one of the most exciting sub-disciplines of anthropology. Medical anthropologists examine issues that are both theoretically relevant to the parent academic discipline and of pressing practical importance to the world today.
The University of Montana – Missoula offers a rigorous graduate concentration in applied medical anthropology as part of its M.A. and Ph.D. programs. Students completing this concentration gain the necessary professional skills to successfully conduct quality research on health issues in both academic and applied settings.
