Policy on Loan of Notebook Computers to Faculty
College of Arts & Sciences — The University of Montana
As a service to faculty, especially during travel for professional development, the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) has available for loan several notebook computer systems for PC users. To reserve a system, call Griztech at 2200. Questions should be directed to the Director of Information Technology for the CAS who is the administrator of the program.
Administration of the program will be governed by the following guidelines.
- The maximum loan period will be no more than 10 days.
- A reservation must be made at least two weeks in advance.
- This program is available to faculty members only.
- In the event of multiple requests for the same time period, the following categories of priorities will apply:
- The nature of the activity: Professional development activity will have priority over personal productivity activity (requests for a machine to learn how to use a new software package will be in the latter category).
- The location of the activity: The order of priority will be (1) out-of-town activity, (2) in-town activity, and (3) on-campus activity.
- The total number of requests: A faculty member may request any number of reservation periods during an academic year. However, the CAS will guarantee only the first two. After two successful reservations, additional requests will be honored only if another faculty member (with less than two previous reservations for the year) does not request the equipment within two weeks of the checkout date.
