Matthew Lenning
Current intern in Date, Hokkaido
The Japanese Section selected Matthew Lenning to work as a paid intern in Date, Hokkaidō for the 2007-8 academic year. Matthew’s duties include preparing teaching materials for the Date Board of Education and teaching English to a variety of elementary and middle-school children.
Matthew writes, “Since coming to Date I have made many wonderful memories including becoming a black belt in Judo and participating in my first international cross country ski marathon. While I have been here, I have also met many wonderful people and learned a lot about Japanese culture and history… It’s a chance to use your Japanese on a daily basis and learn many things about Japan, English Teaching, and most importantly about yourself.”
