Alice Notley has published over 30 books of poetry, including Songs and Stories of the Ghouls (Wesleyan, 2011), Culture of One (Penguin, 2011), Grave of Light: New and Selected Poems 1970-2005 (Wesleyan, 2006)—awarded the Lenore Marhsall Poetry Prize, Disobedience (Penguin, 2001)—awarded the Griffin International Poetry Prize, and Mysteries of Small Houses (Penguin, 1998)—a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. She edited, with her sons Anselm and Edmund Berrigan, The Collected Poems of Ted Berrigan (University of CA Press: Berkeley, 2005). Notley has received the Los Angeles Times Book Award for Poetry, an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Shelley Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America. Active in the New York poetry scene of the 1970's, Notley is often identified with the so-called second generation New York School poets. She has lived in Paris for the past 20 years.
