Description:
The 12th annual UM Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR) will take place in the University Center on Friday, April 12, 2013. The top student poster and presentation in each subject area will receive a $100 award.
We ask that you encourage your students to participate in this important opportunity, especially those students enrolled in courses or other educational activities where they engage in research or creative scholarship that could yield a substantive public presentation, whether that might be a poster presentation, a oral presentation, an exhibit, or an original creative work.
It is our intention to accommodate every UM undergraduate who wishes to participate. Music, drama, dance, and poetry readings are all welcome, along with research presentations in all disciplines. We will offer training sessions designed to help interested students prepare their presentations or posters prior to the conference. It is our goal to have students from every discipline on campus participating in this year's conference. We need your help to achieve this!
For more information about the conference, please visit the Undergraduate Research website. Here you will find an online proposal form, presentation templates, contact information, and sample abstracts. To propose an UMCUR poster or presentation, students must submit an abstract (approximately 300 words) of their research topic. The student's faculty mentor should review and approve the abstract prior to submission, bearing in mind that all abstracts will be published in the conference program.
The call for UMCUR submissions is available here. The abstract submission deadline is Wednesday, February 27, 2013.
Thank you for your support in making this year's UMCUR a success!
