Philosophy Scholarships

Cynthia Herbig Award

Total Budget for Scholarships Given: Approximately $400

Criteria: Book awards will be made to outstanding, worthy undergraduates, graduating seniors and graduate students of the Department of Philosophy at The University of Montana.   The primary criterion for the award will be academic excellence, but character and commitment to the social and artistic concerns that defined Cynthia Herbig's life will also be considered.  When the spending distribution warrants, scholarships may be awarded rather than book funds.  However, in no case will fewer than three awards be made in any year.
A committee appointed by the Chair of the Department of Philosophy shall determine the amounts of the awards and the recipients.  Awards will be made at the Department's annual commencement ceremony.  The awards will be announced in the usual University publications and via its regular news releases.

Scholarship awards and amounts vary: Please contact department.
