Professional Information:

Steve joined the Communication Studies Department in 2002. His research program focuses on how people communicatively manage problematic events in the context of personal relationships. His research on vengeful communication suggests that individuals have a sophisticated array of symbolic activities used to enact vengeful emotion in their interpersonal relationships with others. Click the link to see the content of fifteen types of revenge activities reported by college students when asked to describe something that they or someone they knew had done to "get even" with a current or past romantic partner. His current research examines how communication in personal relationships (problematic and otherwise) links with physical and emotional well-being.
