One of the biggest departments on campus, English continues to maintain a nationally-ranked MFA program as well as thriving graduate and undergraduate programs in literature, English teaching, film studies, Irish studies, Composition, and linguistics.

Welcome to the 2009-10 academic year. This Fall semester our faculty is offering courses on the poetic novel, theories and pedagogies of rhetoric and composition, the American novel, literature and the environment, Dante, the Bible as literature, theories in Native American literature, and many others.

An important new collection of essays on Montana literature, edited by Professor Brady Harrison, has just been published by The University of Nebraska Press. All Our Stories are Here: Critical Perspectives on Montana Literature includes contributions by William Bevis, Nancy Cook, Harrison, Lois Welch, and others.
