Thomas Russell's fiction and poetry have been published widely in magazines, including The Georgia Review, The Massachusettes Review, Poetry and The American Review. A portion of his novel Riding with the Magi won a Quarterly West novella competition. He has been awarded a PEN Syndicated Fiction Prize and a Pushcart Prize and has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Carnegie Foundation. Russell teaches undergraduate fiction writing. Before coming to Montana, he held a Dunavant Professorship at the University of Memphis, where he directed the MFA program.
