Ph.D., SUNY Buffalo (1991). Nancy teaches 19th, 20th and 21st century American literature and culture, with particular interests in literature of place, western American literature, literature and environment and history of the book. She has published essays on Mark Twain, book history, literature and culture of the American West, authenticity in literature and film, and travel writing. Her current work includes essays on ranching culture and a book-length study of class issues in the 20th-century rural West.
