Author of Uncommon Readers: Denis Donoghue, Frank Kermode, George Steiner and the Tradition of the Common Reader (University of Toronto Press, 2003); Hints and Guesses: William Gaddis’s Fiction of Longing (University of Wisconsin Press, 1997); The Patient Particulars: American Modernism and the Technique of Originality (Bucknell University Press, 1995).
