Visiting Faculty

 


The English Department is pleased to welcome the following visiting faculty for the academic year 2007-08:



Stephen Amidon (Kittredge Visiting Writer) has authored a short story collection and five novels, including Human Capital (2004).

Pascal Bardet, a Fitzgerald scholar, visits from the Universitie de Toulouse-le Mirail, France, where he is an associate professor. He is the author From the Green Light to the Valley of Ashes: Exploration of Symbolic Space in The Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald (1994).

Tom Berninghausen, Assistant Professor of English at Clark University from 1989-1998, has published essays on Erdrich, Melville, and Shakespeare.

David Allan Cates, Missoula fiction and nonfiction writer, is the author of X Out of Wonderland: A Saga (2005).

Linh Dinh (Hugo Visiting Writer) is the author of a short-story collection, poetry chapbooks, and most recently a poetry collection, All Around What Empties Out (2005).

Bryan Di Salvatore, fiction and nonfiction writer, is the author of “Golfing in Montana” (Sports Illustrated, 2004) as well as a biography, A Clever Base-Ballist: The Life and Time of John Montgomery Ward (1999).

David Gilcrest, poet and critic, with a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric from the University of Oregon, published Greening the Lyre: Environmental Poetics and Ethics in 2002.

Amy Ratto Parks’s poetry chapbook Bread and Water Body, won the Merriam Frontier Chapbook Prize in 2003.

Brandon Shimoda, the founder and curator of the New Lakes poetry series in Missoula, is the author of The Alps, forthcoming poetry collection from Film Forum Press.

Lisa Simon, is ABD from the University of Washington; her dissertation, "H.D.'s Anthropoetics," argues that the transmission of ideas from anthropology and archaeology via public museums lends a sociological import (and a liberating potential) to the poet's treatment of Classical antiquity..

David Witzling is the author of Everybody’s America: Thomas Pynchon, Race, and the Cultures of Postmodernism (2007).
