Professional Background Information:
Dr. Iashvili 's teaching and research interests span several broad and diverse areas including: gender and social-geographic aspects of Georgian population in transition period (since 1990s after break up of the Soviet Union); ethnic minorities; elderly people; women’s problems; family issue; tourism in Georgia; American Studies focused on American families. Her interest in gender and family issues started with her dissertation entitled “Social-Geographic Aspects of Kutaisi Population Formation”. After defense, in 1999 she founded gender problems research initiative group at the Department of Geography at ATSU. Since that she studies social-geographic changes among urban female population of Kutaisi. Every summer she supervises students field work in tourism for Geography class.

2004 – Project “For Establishing of Gender Studies Centers at the Georgian Universities” by “Open Society -- Georgia Foundation”, project director.
2004 - Grantee of Faculty Development Exchange Program by The University of Montana in American Studies
2003 - Project to develop new classes at Georgian Universities in “Conflict, Gender and Peace Building” by UNIFEM; Volunteering in teaching a new course “Conflict, Gender and Peace Building” at ATSU for History, Journalism and Law school students.
2002 - One of the author of CEDAW report with collaboration of American Bar Association (ABA) by USAID.
2002 – One of the supervisor of the National Census in Kutaisi, Georgia
