Geosciences Alumnus Scholarship (undergraduate and graduate)

- Criteria: Deserving Geosciences graduate and undergraduate students, based on evaluation of research proposal, must be enrolled at UM and intend to return to UM to complete research.

Robert and Eleanor Weidman Scholarship in Geosciences (undergraduate)
- Value of Each: Varies ($200-$700)
- Number of Awards: Varies
- Criteria: Geosciences major in third or fourth year of undergraduate work; must have completed at least one year at UM (Missoula campus), including three or more courses in geosciences. Generally recipient not renewed; selection based primarily on scholastic ability, but also academic potential, character, and financial need. Recipient should have strong interest in classical geology or field studies. Award usually applied to tuition/fees, but upon advanced approval by geosciences faculty, part or all of the award may be used to support enrollment in the summer field geology course or to support a field-based project of independent study approved by the faculty - final report is presented to the faculty and student body.

Patrick J. McDonough Memorial Scholarship (graduate)

- Criteria: Deserving Geosciences Graduate students based on a proposal similar to that of a thesis proposal for research in “Utilization and Development of Energy Resources within the State of Montana.
