Call for Papers
The Charlotte Perkins Gilman conference brings together those working on Gilman around the country and around the world to exchange ideas and to share their work. While the keynote address, the plenary session, and other special events will focus on the conference theme, Gilman Goes West, we welcome submissions on any topic pertaining to Gilman's life and/or work. Moreover, we invite papers taking a wide variety of approaches and disciplinary perspectives. We will also consider submissions in nontraditional formats, such as roundtable discussions, complete panels of three papers on a single topic, film/video, performance or visual art. We encourage students to participate in the conference and will, again this year, offer an award for the Best Student Paper.
To submit a proposal, send an abstract (250 words) and a one-page CV by February 15, 2011 to the conference email (gilmanconference@umontana.edu). For panel proposals, send a description of the panel theme, 250-word abstracts for each paper, the name of the panel chair, and 1-page CVs for each participant.
If you are a student and wish to be considered for the Best Student Paper Award, send your complete paper (of a length suitable for presenting in a twenty-minute block of time), along with a one-page CV to the address above by May 15, 2011. Names will be removed for the judging process.
