PHI ALPHA THETA

Phi Alpha Theta is the International Honor Society in History. The Beta Psi Chapter at UM, chartered in 1948, has enrolled one thousand young historians. The basic requirement for membership is the completion of at least twelve credit hours in History with a 3.1 or higher GPA in History and a 3.0 or higher overall GPA.
To join Phi Alpha Theta at the University of Montana:
- Fill out the membership application form.
- Bring the form and a check made payable to "Phi Alpha Theta" in the amount of $50 to Diane Rapp in the History Department office (LA 256). The $50 fee is a one-time lifetime membership fee to both our local chapter and the national organization. There are no annual dues.

In April, 2011, eight students and four faculty members attended the Phi Alpha Theta Pacific Northwest Regional Conference in Seattle, Washington. All eight students presented original research essays and graduate students Cody Ewert and Jon Hall had their essays nominated for "best paper" prizes.
The Spring 2012 conference will be held April 12-14 at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Washington. If you are interested in attending, please contact Professor Kyle G. Volk.
