Assistance to Foreign Students and Scholars

Dr. Fluck has been involved in assisting international students and foreign scholars at UM with cultural adaptation and integration into the campus community in various forms. As Director of Multicultural Learning Solutions (MLS), he has conducted professional media-assisted trainings for the Office of International Programs, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Office of Foreign Student and Scholar Services and the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center.

2004 - ongoing Foreign Student Orientation Program, UM Office of Foreign Student & Scholar Services, 60-minute PowerPoint presentation titled: Off to a Great Start at UM - A Guide for Successful Cultural Adaptation.

2007 - ongoing UM Global Partners Program, Office of Foreign Student & Scholar Services, 60-minute PowerPoint presentation on important cultural information necessary for US students engaging in a peer program with international students titled: Being an Effective Peer Assistant for an International Student Starts With Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity.

2004 - 2007 International Peer Assistant Orientation for UM Students, Office of Foreign Student & Scholar Services,
60-minute PowerPoint presentation on important cultural information necessary for US students engaging in a peer program with international students titled: Being an Effective Peer Assistant for an International Student Starts With Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity.
