Secretary Opening Address

Welcome to Montana Model United Nations!

"The purpose of Montana Model United Nations is “to stimulate a deeper knowledge of the United Nations; to develop and establish a working understanding of the humanitarian, social, economic, cultural, legal and political problems of the world; and to provide free and open forum for the study and discussion of these problems.” --MMUN COnstitution

For more than forty years, Montana Model United Nations (MMUN) has worked hard to achieve these goals. Each year, MMUN:

  • Organizes and staffs a two-day Model UN conference for more than 400 Montana and Idaho high school students
  • Sends UM students to national collegiate Model UN conferences
  • Sponsors campus and community presentations related to international affairs

MMUN challenges UM students and Montana and Idaho high school students to reflect on important international issues, understand the inner workings of the UN, and develop their research, writing, public speaking, and negotiation skills. By bringing high school students to UM and taking UM students to national collegiate competitions, MMUN contributes to the creation of a more informed local, national, and international community.

We invite you to participate!
