Professional Information
Prof. Walton was the recipient of the University's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1989.
His most recent paper is Polis and Cosmopolis; An Unresolved Paradox in Plato's Republic presented at the annual conference of the International Association for Greek Philosophy, Samos, Greece, August, 2002. You see him above engaged in field research in Athens on the topic ' Mythos in Plato'.
Prof. Walton is a co-founder of the Institute of Medicine and Humanities, and a former member of the St. Patrick Hospital Ethics Advisory Committee. He served as Chair of UM's Faculty Senate in 1998-99. He is currently Editor of The Montana Professor .
Aside from philosophy, Prof. Walton has a serious interest in music; he is a member of the viola section of the Missoula Symphony Orchestra.
