The annual Bugbee Lecture was instituted to honor Henry G. Bugbee, Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at The University of Montana from 1959-1961 and from 1967-1972. In addition to being a notable and influential philosopher and an esteemed colleague and teacher, Henry Bugbee is known for his eloquence in writing and storytelling, and for his love of flyfishing and the Montana landscape. He died in December 1999 in Missoula, Montana.
