Spring 2012 Undergraduate Women's and Gender Studies Scholarship
The University of Montana Women’s and Gender Studies Program offers two $800 scholarships through the Louise Greene/Elizabeth Smith honorary awards program. The two scholarships are for excellence in either 1) academics (Spring semester) or 2) WGS-related activism (Fall semester).

Applicants for the scholarship are to submit the following for consideration by the Women’s Studies Scholarship Committee:
The committee requests that students collect their letter of recommendation and submit it with their application packets. Please ask your recommender to place the letter in a sealed envelope and sign over the seal. In addition, please provide a copy of your transcript.
Students who have previously been awarded a WGS scholarship are not eligible.
Student Travel Grants
Student travel grants may be awarded to students who have been chosen to present a paper at a meeting or conference that is pertinent to Women's and Gender Studies. Eligible students are those who are enrolled in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program or Graduate Certificate Program. Travel Grant funds can only be utilized for conference registration fees, transportation and lodging expenses.
To apply, please send a one-page letter to the Women’s and Gender Studies Program Coordinator that includes the following:
1. Name of the meeting/conference you will be attending
2. Location of the meeting/conference
3. Title of the paper you will be presenting
4. Abstract of your paper
5. Summary of other funding sources for your travel and your travel budget
6. Amount of funding requested from Women’s and Gender Studies
7. A letter of support from a WGS affiliated faculty member.
Dec. 1, 2011 -- Application Deadline for conference travel from July 1 - Dec. 31, 2011
May 1, 2012 -- Application Deadline for conference travel from Jan. 1st -June 30, 2012
*Decisions made post deadline. Maximum award amount is $150.
