Welcome

We are excited that you are interested in the Women’s and Gender Studies program at the University of Montana!

Our program offers an undergraduate minor, an undergraduate major emphasis in the Liberal Studies department, and many graduate courses. We sponsor a number of campus events related to our mission, and we offer scholarships for students pursuing issues in women and gender studies (see the Scholarships link for the Louise Greene/Elizabeth Smith honorary awards).

Pictured above are photos from the Mansfield Library archives of the early days of the University of Montana.

Montana voted to give women the right to vote in 1914. Wyoming was the first state to grant women the right to vote in 1890.
