Louise Greene/Elizabeth Smith Scholarship in Women’s and Gender Studie

 

The University of Montana Women’s and Gender Studies Program announces a $1000 scholarship for academic achievement and invites qualified students to apply.

Criteria:

  1. Open to undergraduate students with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
  2. Applicants must achieve Junior status by Fall 2008.  Transfer students must be in their second semester at The University of Montana.
  3. Students must be either a Liberal Studies Major with an emphasis in Women’s Studies or a Women’s and Gender Studies Minor.  Students can register for the minor to be eligible for the scholarship before April 1st.

Application Process:

The following should be submitted to the Women’s and Gender Studies Program:

  1. A cover letter, including a 300-350 word essay providing an overview of your academic work in Women’s and Gender Studies.
  2. A sample of academic work related to Women’s and Gender Studies.  (Possibilities include an essay, research paper, or creative work you completed for one of your classes.)
  3. Two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a faculty member who teaches Women’s and Gender Studies at The University of Montana.
  4. A current transcript.

The committee requests that students collect letters of recommendation and submit them with their application packets.  Please ask your references to place their letters in a sealed envelope and to sign their names over the seal.

Applications must be submitted to the Women’s and Gender Studies office (LA 138A) by April 1, 2008.
