Louise Greene/Elizabeth Smith Scholarship in Women’s and Gender Studie
The University of Montana Women’s and Gender Studies Program announces a $1000 scholarship for academic achievement and invites qualified students to apply.
Criteria:
- Open to undergraduate students with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Applicants must achieve Junior status by Fall 2008. Transfer students must be in their second semester at The University of Montana.
- Students must be either a Liberal Studies Major with an emphasis in Women’s Studies or a Women’s and Gender Studies Minor. Students can register for the minor to be eligible for the scholarship before April 1st.
Application Process:
The following should be submitted to the Women’s and Gender Studies Program:
- A cover letter, including a 300-350 word essay providing an overview of your academic work in Women’s and Gender Studies.
- A sample of academic work related to Women’s and Gender Studies. (Possibilities include an essay, research paper, or creative work you completed for one of your classes.)
- Two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a faculty member who teaches Women’s and Gender Studies at The University of Montana.
- A current transcript.
The committee requests that students collect letters of recommendation and submit them with their application packets. Please ask your references to place their letters in a sealed envelope and to sign their names over the seal.
Applications must be submitted to the Women’s and Gender Studies office (LA 138A) by April 1, 2008.
